<br /> <br />1 <br />CouncHmember Initiated <br />Agenda Items <br /> <br /> <br />Proposed COUI1Cil Resollltiol1 <br /> <br />WHEREAS; the ability of council n1en1bers to place iten1s on the council's agenda is an <br />in1portant tool for council n1en1bers to fulfill their roles as elected officials, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS; the ability of the council and staff to effectively n1anage their work load and <br />to properly consider iten1s appearing before then1 requires that they receive sufficient <br />notice of agenda iteITIS; <br /> <br />THEREFORE; be it resolved that councillnembers have the right to place iten1s on the <br />agenda as follows: <br /> <br />A council n1en1ber n1ay, at a council n1eeting, request that an iten1 be placed on a <br />future council agenda, or; <br /> <br />A council n1ember ITIay n1ake a request for an agenda iteIn outside of a council <br />111eeting by subnlitting an email request to the city nlanager, with a copy of the enlaii to <br />the other councillnelTIbers, no later than noon of the Wednesday preceding the council <br />lTIeeting. That agenda iten1 will be included on the agenda for the next council n1eeting <br />under the heading "Future Council Agenda IteIns," but will not be an action iteIn. The <br />iteIn will become a regular council agenda item (i.e., for discussion and action) at the <br />subsequent council1TIeeting, or; <br /> <br />A councillnelnber n1ay request the addition of an en1ergency agenda iteIn at the <br />Saine Ineeting at which the iten1 is to be addressed. However, the addition of an <br />en1ergency agenda item shall require the approval of 2/3 ' s of the councillnelnbers <br />present. <br />
