Chief Gasaway reviewed measurable and non-measurable determinants for defining quality of life issues, the tangibles and intangibles; and provided 16 possible action steps, listed randomly, as a framework for future discussions. 1 ) Well-maintained, easy-to-traverse transportation infrastructure; 2) Well-maintained public and private properties ensuring property values remain competitive in the market place; 3) Ensure enforcement of codes and laws that contribute to the deterioration of neighborhoods (i.e., speeding, noise ordinance, housing maintenance, etc.) 4) Well-maintained parks and recreation system that provides a wide variety of recreational opportunities for all ages; 5) A highly-rated public school system that is able to attract students to the district based on the quality of education; 6) Access to arts and cultural opportunities; 7) Promoting diversity; 8) Quality natural and open spaces supported by environmentally friendly water management practices; 9) Employment opportunities that offer head-of- household wages; 10) Variety of retail shopping and restaurant choices; Goal 2: Address and Maintain Determinant of Quality of Life, Systematically and Proactively rather than Piecemeal and Reactively
