REQUEST FOR CITY COUNCIL ACTION <br />4/16/2012 <br /> DATE: <br /> ITEM NO. 7.D <br />Department Approval: City Manager Approval: <br />Item Description: Annual Variance Board Appointments <br />1.0B: <br />ACKGROUND <br />1 <br />Pursuant to Chapter 1014.04 (Board of Zoning Adjustments and Appeals) of the Roseville City <br />2 <br />Code, the City Council annually nominates three members of the Planning Commission to serve <br />3 <br />as the Roseville Variance Board. While “nominates” typically means “selects,” experience has <br />4 <br />shown that the more practical course is for Planning Commissioners to volunteer if they are <br />5 <br />willing and available to serve on the Variance Board, and for the City Council to ratify the self- <br />6 <br />selected Commissioners. <br />7 <br />On April 4, 2012, Planning Commissioners John Gisselquist, Michael Boguszewski, Peter <br />8 <br />Stohmeier, and Jeff Lester each volunteered to serve as members of the Variance Board. <br />9 <br />2.0SR <br />TAFF ECOMMENDATION <br />10 <br />Planning Commission recommends that the Roseville City Council ratify John Gisselquist, <br />11 <br />Michael Boguszewski, Peter Stohmeier, and Jeff Lester (alternate) as the Variance Board serving <br />12 <br />from May 2, 2012 to April 3, 2013. <br />13 <br />3.0SCCA <br />UGGESTED ITY OUNCIL CTION <br />14 <br />By motion, ratify the selection of Roseville Planning Commissioners John Gisselquist, Michael <br />15 <br />Boguszewski, Peter Stohmeier, and Jeff Lester (alternate) as the Planning Commission members <br />16 <br />appointed to serve as the Variance Board from May 3, 2012 to April 3, 2013. <br />17 <br />Prepared by: City Planner Thomas Paschke <br />VB_Appointments_RCA_041612 <br />Page 1 of 1 <br /> <br />
