<br />City Council Regular Meeting - OS/22/06 <br />Minutes - Page 22 <br /> <br />Tam McGehee, 77 Mid Oaks <br />Ms. McGehee provided numerous pages in a Bench Handout <br />related to asbestos contamination, testing and precautions; and <br />public health concerns; opining her discomfort with the self- <br />regulating matter of the process and serious public health threat <br />posed, not just in the area, park and lake, but to nearby residents. <br />Ms. McGehee spoke to the detrimental lung diseases attributed to <br />concrete dust and/or asbestos. Ms. McGehee further opined the <br />need for continuous monitoring; and suggested a better location <br />would be to transport the material to Little Canada and away <br />from the residential area and lake. <br /> <br />Karen Milton, 2939 Mildred Dr. N <br />Ms. Milton spoke in opposition to the proposed site and Interim <br />Use Permit; opining that EP A recommendations suggested <br />locating a crushing facility at least 1320' from residential areas; <br />and expressed further concerns related to noise, vibrations; and <br />further contaminations of Langton Lake. <br /> <br />John Kysylyczyn, 3083 N Victoria Street <br />Mr. Kysylyczyn opined that inconsistencies in recommendations <br />for the former Ramsey County request for an Interim Use Permit <br />for a crushing facility, and this request, were primarily politically <br />motivated. <br /> <br />Pat Johnson-Nygaard and Carole Erickson, <br />Ms. Johnson-Nygaard and Ms. Erickson presented a Bench <br />handout dated May 22, 2006 and entitled, "Roseville Twin Lakes <br />LLC Interim Use Permit," and spoke in support of the permit and <br />the project; reviewed the history of environmental and wildlife <br />concerns around Langton Lake and park; and their desire to see <br />the fruition of their efforts in the ultimate clean up of Langton <br />Lake. <br /> <br />Duane Metz, 2926 Mildred Drive <br />Mr. Metz spoke in opposition of the proposed recycling site; <br />expressing health concerns for his grandchildren with potential <br />contamination. <br />
