REQUEST FOR HRA DISCUSSION <br />Date: 03/20/12 <br />Item No: <br />Staff Approval: Agenda Section: <br /> Action/Discussion Items <br />Item Description: 2012-2017 Strategic Plan (HF 119) <br />Background <br />The next step in the RHRA Strategic Planning process is to review information about Roseville, the region, <br />and the nation, in order to provide proper context. Understanding the data and trends occurring in <br />Roseville and society in general will better allow the RHRA to focus on priorities. Staff has provided the <br />following information for the RHRA to review. <br />2010 Census information regarding Roseville’s demographics and housing stock <br />2011 Demographic information from the Roseville School District regarding their students. <br />Information regarding the types of businesses within Roseville. <br />Identified Housing and Commercial Goals from the 2030 Comprehensive Plan, Imagine Roseville <br />2025 and the current RHRA Strategic Plan. <br />A summary of the 2009 Housing Market Analysis completed for the RHRA. <br />A summary of future trends in development. <br />Finance and Commerce article regarding development trends in Twin Cities. <br />Staff will review all of this material in detail at the meeting. In addition, we will watch a portion of the <br />“Navigating the New Normal” presentation conducted by the Minnesota Chapter of Urban Land Institute, <br />from this past fall, and review some of their material. <br />Finally, our facilitator, Barbara Raye will provide preliminary results from our survey with stakeholders. <br />Suggested RHRA Action <br />The meeting is continuation of the strategic planning process. The RHRA Board should utilize this <br />time to gain a better understanding of trends and demographics of our community and have a <br />discussion on what all of the information means.
