<br />City Council Regular Meeting - 08/14/06 <br />Minutes - Page 18 <br /> <br />structure; and would be required to meet certain requirements <br />that would come before the City Council at their August 28, <br />2006 meeting to debate the merits of their request. <br /> <br />Mr. Phillips noted that several conditions in the staff report had <br />already been addressed. Staff concurred. <br /> <br />Maschka moved, Pust seconded, adoption of Resolution No. <br />10423 entitled, "A Resolution Approving an Amended <br />Conditional Use Permit in Accordance with Roseville City Code <br />1005.015 and 1013.01 for Walser Automotive Group, and the <br />Property located at 2770 Highway 1-35W (PF 3775); based on <br />the findings of and conditions outlined in Section 5 of the <br />Property Report Dated August 14, 2006. <br />Roll Call <br />Ayes: Ihlan; Pust; Maschka; Kough; and Klausing. <br />Nays: None. <br /> <br />8. <br /> <br />Fire Department Daytime Staffing Issue <br />Fire Chief Rich Gasaway summarized previous July 10 and July <br />24, 2006 staff presentations with the City Council, ensuing <br />discussions, and ongoing challenges to the department. <br /> <br />Councilmember Ihlan spoke in support of the department's <br />request; however, noted her concern related to the double <br />pension benefit issue, and sought additional City Council <br />discussion as to a by-law change or other mechanism to rectify <br />that double benefit. <br /> <br />Chief Gasaway advised two remedies to the situation: <br />1) By-law change enacted through the Firefighters Relief <br />Association; or <br />2) A change in the State Statute to prohibit that situation. <br /> <br />Councilmember Ihlan expressed her support for remedy at the <br />local level; and questioned whether local firefighters would <br />support such a by-law revision. <br /> <br />Chief Gasaway expressed his personal support of a revision to <br />the by-laws, but noted it would require a vote of the entire Relief <br />Association membership. <br /> <br />Fire Department <br />Daytime Staffing <br />
