City Council Regular Meeting - 08/14/06
Minutes - Page 27

City Attorney Anderson, speaking to the contract with the
LMCIT, advised that there were no provisions for paying
for independent, outside counsel.

Pust move, Maschka seconded, tabling action on this item
until the report was received from the LMCIT attorney
next week.
Roll Call
Ayes: Ihlan; Pust; Maschka; Kough; and Klausing.
Nays: None.

City Attorney Statement
City Attorney Anderson clarified, for the record, and
based on personal comment of Councilmember Ihlan, that
he and his firm in their role as City Attorney provide the
City Council and staff with their best objective legal
advice; and he took issue with suggestions that he did
otherwise in rendering previous legal opinion. City
Attorney Anderson noted that statements that his office
didn't provide objective legal advice were inaccurate, and
whether that advice was upheld in a court as right or
wrong, it was irrespective of politics or personal issues.

Living Wage Requirements
Councilmember Ihlan requested that the next City
Council Study Session agenda include discussion and
consideration of adopting living wage requirements for
any developers or retailers using Tax Increment
Financing or other public subsidies.

Councilmember Kough requested the inclusion of the two
items previously removed from tonight's agenda.

13. Adjourn
The meeting was adjourned at 9:07 p.m.

Adjourn
