Species on the periphery of their range that are not
listed as threatened may be included in this category along with
those species that were once threatened or endangered but now
have increasing or protected, stable populations.

Minnesota's endangered species law

Minnesota's Endangered Species Statute (Minnesota Statutes,
Section 84.0895) requires the Minnesota Department of Natural
Resources (DNR) to adopt rules designating species meeting
the statutory definitions of endangered, threatened, or species
of special concern. The resulting List of Endangered,
Threatened, and Special Concern Species is codified as
Minnesota Rules, Chapter 6134. The Endangered Species
Statute also authorizes the DNR to adopt rules that regulate
treatment of species designated as endangered and threatened.
These regulations are codified as Minnesota Rules, Parts
6212.1800 to 6212.2300.

Minnesota's Endangered Species Statute and the associated
Rules impose a variety of restrictions, a permit program, and
several exemptions pertaining to species designated as
endangered or threatened. A person may not take, import,
transport, or sell any portion of an endangered or threatened

http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/etslindex.html

~c.~"cc\
1\ Q<,fo b

Pagel of2 .
;;l~" ,~~ 6' ,
(PF ')757)

Endangered, threatened,
special concern species

Main page

Dragonflies, butterHies &
moths, caddisflies

Fish

Jumping spiders &
leafhoppers

Lichell$,l1:1()$~~S~JLll1gi

Mammals

Tiger beetles

Vascular plants (endangered)

Vascular plants (threatened)

Vascular plants (special
concern)

List by scientific name

Statement of need and
reasonableness ,e."

PDF version of this list ,"."

1 I::::O::T 1

9/25/2006
