Receive Public Comment about City Issues Public Comment <br />Mayor Klausing called for public comment by members of the <br />audience on any City Issues. <br /> <br />A. Al Sands, 2612 Aldine <br />Mr. Sands requested that the City Council schedule a special <br />City Council meeting solely for discussion of the 2007 <br />Budget and Tax Levy to finalize anticipated increases for <br />2007. Mr. Sands expressed his interest in knowing the final <br />levy percentage increase for the benefit of taxpayers prior to <br />the November General Election. <br /> <br />B. John Kysylyczyn, 3083 N Victoria Street <br />Mr. Kysylyczyn critiqued the City Council's hiring process <br />for the City Manager's position; questioning the leadership <br />and consensus-building throughout the process; decision- <br />making for the hiring by "lame duck" Councilmembers; <br />process timing; timing of the hire; application process and <br />review panel; and internal and/or external candidate selection <br />procedure; selection criteria; and the need to make the <br />process more public for accountability purposes. Mr. <br />Kysylyczyn questioned whether Open Meeting Law <br />provisions were adhered to; ethics of the process; and staff's <br />involvement in the process. <br /> <br />C. Councilmember Tammy Pust <br />Councilmember Pust thanked everyone involved in the recent <br />Central Park Foundation event, "Back to the 50's," for citizen <br />support and for those planning the event. <br /> <br />Councilmember Pust announced an upcoming event entitled, <br />"A Taste of Northwest," showcasing the work of Northwest <br />Youth and Family Services, with various food and restaurant <br />vendors donating refreshments for the event. <br />Councilmember Pust noted that additional information, and <br />tickets at $25 each for the event scheduled for Thursday, <br />October 12, 2006, at the Shoreview Community Center, <br />could be obtained by calling 651/379-3422. <br /> <br />Councilmember Pust highlighted another activity for youth <br />entitled, "Kids Voting Minnesota," sponsored by various <br />
