Ms. Beckman encouraged individual Councilmembers to VISit the Law Enforcement Center or the Maplewood District Court; and if notified ahead of time, volunteered to have her staff provide a tour of either facility. Mayor Klausing thanked Ms. Beckman and staff for their informative presentation. 3. Discuss Public Policy Issues on the Westwood Village I Petition for a Housing Improvement Area Housing & Redevelopment Authority (HRA) Executive Director Cathy Capone Bennett provided a written summary of the public policy issues regarding providing assistance for housing improvements and responded to Councilmember questions and comments regarding the City's ability to establish a Housing Improvement Area (HIA) per statutory authority. Ms. Bennett advised that the Building Inspector had visited Westwood Village I earlier that day and taken pictures, and would provide a written report in the near future. Ms. Bennett introduced Ms. Sue Shay, President of the Board of Directors at Westwood Village I, who also resided in the Townhome complex. Ms. Shay discussed the existing cedar siding and its deterioration; proposed materials for future siding; costs of the Interim City Manager and Finance Director Chris Miller 'it< Ms. Bennett discussed the requirements of the petition for improvement and HIA provisions; number of units supportive of the proposed HIA; and forthcoming Building Inspector recommendations for the complex.
