LEISLT

Roseville shalI be a community with leisure actiities demonstrating a uniqueness that reflects its
diversity, creativity, ialent, professionalism and especially the values of a proud community. We beIieve
that the development of activities and programs must accommodate a variety of interests, stimulate
creativity and learning, allow for nature appreciation and meet aesthetic, cuItural, social, and athletic
needs of all in the community.
A{1 leisure activities and facilities will be accessible for all persons, and will provide opportunities for
participation by alI age groups from early childhood to senior adults, and for families as well as for
individuals. All leisure ac#ivities and facilities wiZl be affordable, and no resident will be precluded from
participation because of fnancial constraints.
Aesthetics and beauty are essential requirements and will be a common quality throughout all facilities
and leisure areas. This will be especially important for a city that has a high level of commercial
development and is crisscrossed by arterial highways.
Farmalized interagency cooperation between all levels of volunteer agencies, County, State, School
Disiricts and City governmeni will be essential to maxirriize the mutual benefits to the community and the
agencies.
This vision can become a reality by developing a comprehensive rnaster plan for financing and
implernenting the rnaintenance of existing facilities, acquiring property, developing new parks and
#rails/pathways, constrtictirg new facilities, and creating new programs based on priorities established by
representative commissions.
GOALS
Parks -
To maintain atd expand thc public spaces that offcr leisure facilities and activities.
o tJpr•ade existin athlctic ficlds tlii•ough such techniques as irrigation, lighting for selecC
fictds (softba4l, foaiball, and soccer} and the lengthening of ball field fences ta regulation
sizc.
