What do you like least about it?
Growth and poor city services were the two major problems cited
by respondents:
DON'T KNOW ................................15
NOTHING ...................................27%
INCREASED HEAVY TRAFFIC ...................ZO
HIGH TAXES .................................8
RECENT GROWTH .............................14%
CRIME ...........................•--........1%
SCHOOLS ....................................2
LOCATION ...................................4%
NO PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION ...................2%
POOR CITY SERVICES ........................10%
TOO MANY MALI,S .............................3%
CITY GOVERNMENT ............................5%
SCATTERED RESPONSES ........................2
High taxes and heavy traffic were also mentioned.
Boosters numbered twenty-seven percent -- people who found
"nothing" they disliked about the city -- a percentage above the
suburban norm. "Nothing" was the more frequent response of over
sixty-five year olds.
"Growth" was key to 55-64 year olds.
"Heavy traffic" was paramount to post-graduates.
These results strongly suggest that the City needs to
carefully assess growth issues, particularly traffic concerns.
While the residents are generally pro-development, they are very
concerned about the consequences and inconvenience of future
growth. If planning and foresight is utilized, a satisfiactory
balance should be achieved.
Rating of Neighborhood:
Residents were asked a pair of questions. First, a
benchmark rating was solicitd:
Hor ould you rate the qeneral appear-
ance of your neighbarhood -- excellent,
18
