Motion carried 4/0/2 (McGehee and Bosch abstained}. <br />17 <br />18 <br />19 <br />2a <br />21 <br />22 <br />23 <br />24 <br />25 <br />26 <br />27 <br />28 <br />Corrections• <br />■ Correct month and date on secondary page headings (pages 2— 4). <br />HRC Budget <br />Chair Delmore led a discussion on the HRC budget and remaining 2007 funds of $1,300. <br />Commissioners discussed various programs and resource materials to promote diversity and <br />encourage middle-school interes# in the annual essay contest and subjecf materials. <br />City Manager Malinen agreed to research the legalities of donations by the HRC. <br />29 Conunissioner Bosch suggested Families All Malter curriculum, schools in the District that had <br />30 purchased the guidelines and those not having iznplemented the program yet. Commissioner <br />31 Bosch volunteered to poll the schools before year-end to determine curriculum status. <br />32 <br />33 Discussion inclu�ed how to distribute money or materials to support the program, choice of <br />34 schoo�s, grade levels, revie�T of book� available that u�ouZd focus on the HRC'� m:�sior� and <br />35 using this as a pilot program to detenninc how successful it would be in promoting the HRC <br />36 mission. <br />37 <br />38 Discussion included whether the schools should be within the Roseville School District and/or <br />39 only those located in the City of Roseville; how to encourage children's interest in reading and <br />40 the topics covered in the curriculum; focus of HRC goals and book topzcs: Race and Ethnicity; <br />41 Immigration; Divorce, Breakup, Blending; GLBT; Socio-economics; Disability and Aging; and <br />42 Families are Different; with annual revisiting of this piiot program to determine its effectiveness, <br />43 and if positive to continuc building the diversity libraries of oux schools; and volunteering by <br />44 HRC Commissioncrs to promote and/or receive feedback from teachers and students. <br />45 <br />
