Curti that funds for the book purchase were to <br />corne from 2007 HRC funds. <br />Commissioner McKenzie said ways to effectively engaging citizens was missing and suggested <br />the HRC pay for training five mentors or parents. <br />167 Further discussion included how and who to recruit as readers for training, content and intent of <br />168 training, potential involvement of school PTAs and ways to enhance the prograrn and increase <br />169 communication with citizens. <br />170 <br />171 Commissioner Bosch moved and Commissioner Venters seconded approval of moving forward <br />172 with the "All Families Matter" curriculum; amending the December rnotion for the three schools <br />173 {i.e., Central Park, Brimhall and Parkview Center School} for a donation of books in the amount <br />174 of $125 per school for books, in addition to $100 for a reader training program; with a total <br />175 expenditure of $475, rather than the original allotment of $500. Motion carried 6/0. <br />176 <br />177 Vice Chair Bosch said she would work with ihe schools representatives with which she had <br />178 already rnade contact <br />179 <br />180 Other <br />181 City Manager Malincn asked whether the HRC preferred that the Essay Contest presentation be <br />' Q2 at the City Council meeting of February 11 or February 25, 2008. By consensus, Commissioners <br />�3 chose February 11. <br />
