Shipchandler was recently named Facing Race Manager. I'acing Racc is Thc Saint Paul Poundation's initiative to create a more equiiable, just and open community in which everyone feels safe, valued and respected. In her new position, Rowzat will coordinate the development and implementation of the Facing Race Initiative work plan and ensu.re completion of day-to-day programmatic and fund-raising acfiivities. This fall, she will coordinate the launch of the project's effort to spark convexsations about race at the individual and institutional levels. "Rowzai brings a wealth of professional and volunteer experience to her role at The Saint Paul Foundation," says Claire Chang, director of program planning and special inifiatives. "Rowzat's knowledge and experience will help to advance the Facing Race effort to a acw level." Since 1999, Rowzat woriced at the Greater Twin Cities United Way as a fund distribution manager and as the community building strategies program manager. Her efforts at the neighborhood level includc workiz�g with the Department of Justice Weed and Seed Initiative and as a crirne prevention coordinator for the Suinmit- University Planning Council. In 199b, Rowzat worked as a community services specialist with Crime Victirn Serviccs, where she designed and implemented an oufreach program to urban communities of color. Rowzat volunteers with Dakota County Community Correction's Restorative Conferencing program to bring crime victims and offendcrs together to tallc about the crime and determine restitution_ She also serves on the board of Katha Dancc Theatre and is a fellow with the Hubert H. Humphrey Institute's Policy Fellows program at the University of Minnesota. The Saint Paul Foaadation is the community foundation for Saint Paul and surrounding areas.
