�� ry������ <br />Human Rights Commission Minutes <br />February 8, 2005 <br />Present: Thelma McKenzie, Phillip Crump, Janet Delmore, Karen Vnuk, Larry Voeiler <br />Absent: Steve Smith <br />Staff: Carol}m Curti <br />The Commission came to arder at 7:05 p.m. <br />Cornrnissioners reviewed the DVD, This is My Home, which was produced by ihe University <br />of Min.nesota Human Rights Resource Center and TPT MN Channel 2. The program <br />followed several Minnesota youths who talked about their school and life experiences dealing <br />with discrimination. <br />Following the viewing, mcmbers discussed what the Commission could do to bring the <br />Human Rights curt-�culum to Roseville. Chair McKenzie said that she coniacied both the <br />S#ate Department of Human Rights a.nd the University of Minnesota Human Rights Resource <br />Center (UM-HRRC) about conducting a workshop in Roseville. The workshop should <br />include Roseville teachers and principals. McKenzie said that Dr. Leon Rodriguez, one of the <br />participants in the production, would come to the meeting to talk about the curriculurn. <br />Commissioner Delmore said she wouid like to try the curriculum in her school. Chair <br />McKenzie will speak with the UM-HRRC about getting a copy of the curriculum for <br />Commissioner Delmore. <br />Approve Minutes <br />Chair McKenzie ihanked thc Commissioners for the productive January rneeting. She said it <br />is importat�t to xn�eet each year with the Superintendent of the Roseville Schools. She <br />expressed disappointinent #hat no teachers commented on the New Teachers Packet. Carolyn <br />Curti will try to talk individually with ihe new teachers ai Parkview School when tbe <br />Commission attends the Martin Luther King reenactment. <br />Commissioner Cruxnp rz�ovee� axxd Commissioner Vnuk seconded approval of thc minutes. <br />Motion prevailed. <br />
