The New Teachers' Packet offers information about #he Human <br />Rights Commission, the City and community resources that are available to them. <br />Commissioner Phil Crurnp reported that Shonda Crump attended the Roseville Area School's <br />most recent Equity & Integration Plan meeting. They meet throughout the year to discuss <br />ways to integrate the schools. <br />Chair McKenzie mentioned the This is our Home Curriculum that is being developed an.d <br />tested by the University of Minnesota Human Rights Resource Center. The University hopes <br />to ha�e the cumculum available by this fall, so the Commission may review and consider <br />promoting in the schools when in becomes a�ailable. <br />Chair McKenzie stated that she would foilow up with Chief of Police Carol Sletner <br />encouraging the Roseville Police Department to participate in the League of Minnesota <br />Human Rights Commissions Police-Community Relations Traixving. <br />Carolyn Curti discussed Buiiding Respectful Communities as a possible project that the <br />Commission may want to develop. During this most recent essay contest, Commissioners <br />noted numerous examples of being disrespectful or feeling disrespected. Former <br />Con�n�issioner Karen Vnuk pulled out examples of disrespect and �iscritnination based on <br />race, nationality, gendez, religion, sexual orientation and disability. Fortr�er Cornmissianer <br />Larry Voeller had discussed the topic with RAHS Teacher Filiz Yargici. Yargici has invited <br />HRC members to speak to her class on several occasions. She expressed interest in creating a <br />Respect dialogue within the school. <br />Chair McKenzie asked Commissioners to reflect on the potential projects for the upcoming <br />year and decide what each Commissioner wants to work on. <br />Adjournment <br />Meeting ad}ourned at 8:45 p.m. <br />
