Roseville Sister City Association <br />Minutes <br />February 4, 2003 <br />Present: James and Joyce Boardson, Mary Meyers, Tom and Virginia Turb <br />Minutes: <br />1. Minutes of January 7 were approved. <br />2. Recent activities: Joyce had a sign made to identify thaC the display case <br />st Che Roseville ActiviCy CenYer is SisYer CiCy. When in the area, please <br />stop by and see how nice �he case looks. We have received compliments from <br />Yhe Center sCaff. <br />3. No treasury report was available. <br />4. 5hinmachi: There will be a new chair to work with Mary Meyers far the student <br />exchange. Ten students and two teachers are expected to arrive around August 5 <br />from Japan. There are �o U.S. students expected at this Cime to go to Japan <br />this year. <br />5. Costa Rica: Yvonne has not heard anything from the Junior Colleges at this time. <br />Tom wi11 try to contact the colleges concerning this. One college has said they <br />are not expecting to do anything this year. We are nnt sure if that includes <br />the 2p03-04 school year. Joyce reported on prices Ior used/durable sewing mach- <br />machines, ranging from a minum of $150 to $500. The "Y" sale wiZ1 be held <br />approximately May 14-17, which may afford an opportunity for a lowere price. <br />Mary ��i1 also watch for one at the sale she is involved in. <br />6. FuCure aceivities: The applicakion f.or the Roseville Rosefest Parade has been <br />received. It will be heid on Monday, June 23, starting at 6:30 PM. Most of. the <br />children that have participated in the Zast 2 years will nor be available. Plans <br />are to have only 6, maximum of l0 children this year. If you know of anyone that <br />may be inCerested, please contact Joyce. It is very difficult to have children <br />show up unannounced. <br />Tom has not had any further contact with the representatives from China. He <br />will try to find out what they are interested in doing and see if we may assist <br />them. The group agreed that our membership is too small to take on another <br />country as a sister city. <br />7. Mary shared some of her experiences about her recent trip to Viet Nam with the <br />group. She had very interesting stories to tell. <br />Next meeting wi11 be March 4, 20Q3 at 6:30.
