CHAPTER 6. _ <br />1:�7T111i(.yl : : �1 [��t[�]a[ : : : . <br />Section 6.01. The city manager. <br />The ciiy manager shall b� the chief administrative officer of the city. He or she <br />shall be chosen by the council solely on the basis of his or her training, experience, <br />executive and administrative qualifications. He or she need not he a resident of the city <br />at the time of his or her appointrnent but may reside outside the city while in ofFice only <br />with the approval of the council. The city manager shall be appointed for an indefinite <br />ter�m and may be removed at any tiine by an affirmative vote of a majority of the council; <br />but after he or she has served as manager for one year, he or she may demand written <br />charges and a public hearing on the charges before the council prior to the date when his <br />or her final remo�al takes effect. After the hearing, if one is demanded, the council sl�all <br />have unlimited discretian either to reinstate the manager or make his or her removal final. <br />Pending the hearing and removal, the council rnay suspend the manager from office. <br />With the approval of the council, ihe manager may designate some properly qualified <br />person to perfarm the duties of the manager during his or her abs�nce or disability or <br />while the o�ce is vacant. <br />092000.doc 17 <br />
