TCMRF,Single-Sort Consttuenr Test
grade with an action lnit of 2 percent. Any deviation above 2 percent in the regular
sampling of bales subjects the production staff to a ntamber af reznedial procedures
entailing review of all operational functions. It also requires additional sampling until a
production standard of less tha.n 1.5 percent is met.
Four bales were seiected randomly during this test. The combined weight of the bales
was 4.97 tons, representing 11.3 perccnt of the nwspaper product7on for the test.
Sarnpling of te bales confirmed production at a 1.5 percent quality standard.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
It is important to noie thai this test was perforrned or the purposes of ascertaining
material constituents of the sirxgle-sort collection and processing system. It was not the
purpose of this test to determine production efficiencies or comparison of manual and
mechanical systems. This was not a test of efficiencies for the unassisted operation of the
mechanical screens or other mechanical systems, including the air classificr and rnagnets,
as providcd at the TCMRF. The test was performed according to normal operating
practices for the TCMRF with usual staffxng levels and sorting procedures.
lo
