City of <br />1� <br />'� <br />`/�„� <br />Minnesota, USA <br />Fire Protection and Suppression Functions - 2002 <br />Overall Objectives <br />• Bring a level of management to the Department, which a full time chief can provide and provide <br />organizational leadership that fosters service excellence. <br />• Consistently deliver quality, affordable fire and life safety services that meet the time sensitive needs <br />of our citizens and meets fire service standards. <br />• Create a professional work environment that meets the needs of an on- call - staffed fire department and <br />ensures member success and recognizes the contributions of all. <br />• Work with the City Administration to insure that the Department is properly trained, equipped, and <br />staffed to safely meet the defined needs of our citizens. <br />2002 Work Plan <br />The work plan sets out the specific programs we foresee being instrumental in the Fire Protection and <br />Suppression function in achieving its overall objectives. <br />• Enhance fire and life safety services through new services that add value to the community. <br />• Plan, innovate and implement the use of new fire and life safety technology that enhances firefighter <br />safety and service quality. <br />• Assess the Department's preparedness for national accreditation. <br />• To work with City Administration, Council and Community in a facility review and improvement <br />program. <br />Specific Programs- 2002 <br />The following specific programs are expected to be implemented in 2002. <br />• To implement a service delivery model with the goal of meeting the needs and standards of the <br />Community through the use of a community -based paid -on -call system. <br />• Explore joint efforts with other communities and fire departments that would lead to equal or <br />improved service but with financial and equipment efficiencies. <br />• Design and implement a program to enhance safety by completing pre- incident plans for high hazard <br />facilities including facility and equipment maintenance. <br />• Explore programs of fire safety education for the community and implement where feasible. <br />III -7 <br />
