City of Roseville - 2003 Budget <br />Division /Program: Recreation Fee Activities <br />Organizational Responsibility: Director of Parks and Recreation <br />Division 1 Program Description <br />Recreation Fee Activities provide quality opportunities in adult classes, youth recreational <br />classes, youth sports, gymnastics, senior citizen programs, arts, volunteer opportunities, and <br />other activities in a way that meets the needs of city residents while being self- supporting in <br />terms of direct costs. The Program's activities are accounted for in the Recreation Fund. <br />2003 Goals and objectives <br />• Assess all facility fees to plan for future maintenance costs. <br />* Pursue non - traditional revenue sources within city policies, i.e., sponsorships. <br />• Continue to strive for participation increases. <br />■ Improve community access through on -line registration. <br />2003 Budget Impact Items <br />• Printing costs are now directly assessed to individual programs, previously was a central <br />service expense. <br />• Changing trends of recreational programs. <br />• School district maintenance contract on gymnasiums ending in March 2003. <br />• Space costs due to the loss of the Roseville Activity Center (RAC). <br />2001 Achievements <br />• Host for the 2001 great American Shootout International Basketball Tournament. <br />• over 5,000 program and services offered. <br />• Hosting of Rosefest with over 25,000 participants and spectators in 43 different areas. <br />• Initiated the All American Soap Box Derby. <br />• Continued transition plan from the RAC to Fairview Community Center. <br />46 <br />
