In the case of the City of Roseville, assets exceeded liabilities by
$156,800,657 at the close of the most recent fiscal year.
By far the largest portion of the City of Roseville's net assets (74% percent) reflects its
investment in capital assets (e.g. land, buildings, machinery, and equipment) less any
related debt used to acquire those assets that is still outstanding. The City of Roseville
uses these capital assets to provide services to citizens; consequently, these assets are not
available for future spending. Although the City of Roseville's investment in its capital
assets is reported net of related debt, it should be noted that the resources needed to repay
this debt must be provided from other sources, since the capital assets themselves cannot
be used to liquidate these liabilities.
CITY OF ROSEVILLE'S NET ASSETS
A portion of the of the City of Roseville's net assets represents resources that are subject
to external restrictions on how they may be used. The remaining balance of unrestricted
net assets ($25,323,455) may be used to meet the City's ongoing obligations to citizens
and creditors.
At the end of the current fiscal year, the City of Roseville is able to report positive
balances in all three categories of net assets, both for the government as a whole, as well
as for its separate governmental and business -type activities.
t6
Governmental
Activities
2003
Governmental
Activities
2002
Business -
Type
2003
Business -
Type
2002
Total
2003
Total
2002
Current and other
AssMs
S41,4-492 P
335,624 ,$01
$9,346,a 17
S9,970.630
550171
SU W ,42
ca itA asszts
109,056 5fA
10 -1,729,805
18,191,264
25.572,178
1271.35H1423
11 70119 A 3
Toca1 asses
150,615,953
1 40,3 54 606
27,337,991
35,950,958
173,1 53,734
a ?6 N,!
