At the national level, Clean Cities provides
original equipment manuf,lctufefs, tra.de
associations, and other federal agencies with
coordinated strategies and resources they
can leverage to obtain maximum petroleum
displacernent. Clean Cities also provides coalitions
vvith access to information and grants from D()E,
other federal agencies, and industry partners that
can fund significant, high-impact projects.

has

Clean Cities is integral to many success stories. It
has spurred signlficant gains in the nation's AFV
population and associated fueling infrastructure. In
20(}-+, Clean Cities passed the milestone of displacing
the equivalent of rnore than I billion gaIIons of
gasoline. Clean Cities tracks the activities and
accompllshments of its coalitions, translating this
to petroleum displacement. This tracking represents
only a SInal! percentage of the actual impact of
Clean Cities. The program lays the groundwork for
local and regional partnerships to increase the use of
alternati\/c and advanced vehicles and fuels, \vhich
ripples out from the coalitions.

Additionallv, (Jean ClUes provides a large collec-
tion of technical data and infonnation including
current data on fueis, vehicles, fueling station and
truck-stop electrification locations, infrastructure
development, state and feeleral incentives and laws,
publications, and industry resources-.""-all available
via the Internet. Clean Cities publishes a newsletter
and numerous technical and outreach publications.
Finally, Clean Cities offers technical assistance to
coordinators as they \-vork to develop infrastructure
and market strategies.

Through local and national events, special enrphasis
is focused on educatin.\l; fleet managers and corporate
executives about Clean Cities technologies. For
example, in October 2005, coalitions across the
country hosted simultaneous events celebrating the
displacement of the equivalent of rnore than] billion
gallons of petroleurn. iV'fedia broadcast the events
throughout the nation. The events showcased local
projects involving icHe reduction, alternative fuels,
and hybrids. In addition, Clean Cities has created
many funding opportunities through a variety of
financial support programs, rnaking available millions
of dollars and leveraging millions more, in categories
such as fuel infrastructure, ;\FV incremental cost buy-
downs, and idle reduction education.

AfH:entral Arkansas CA~Northwest CO~Den\ler FtMSpace Coast H\H;outh Shore
Tommy Foltz (Riverside County) Stacey Simms Bill Young Carl Lisek
501-537-2273 Barbara SpoonholJr 303..847-0271 321-638-1443 219-365-4289
AZNVal!ey of the Sun {Phoenix} 951-955-8313 www.aiacolo.org/cleancities.cfm www.fsec.lJcf.edu/env/clean ~ www.southshorecleancities.org
Bill Sheaffer CA~Sacramento CO-Northern Colorado cities/index.htm KS/MO~!(ansas City
480-314-0360 Jill Egbert Robin Newbrey Riesberg GA.-Atlanta Bob Housh
www.cleanairaz.org 530-757-5235 970-689-4845 Wendy Morgan 816-531-7283
AZNTuGson www.cieancitiessacramento.org/ www.fcgov.com/airquality/clean- 678-244-4152 KY~Gnmmonwealth Clean
GoHeen Crowninshield CA-San Diego cities.php www.cte.tv/cca/cleancitiesatl.
