Attachment A <br />PROCLAMATION <br />18 <br />19 <br />JULY AS PARKS AND RECREATION MONTH <br />20 <br />21 <br />JULY 2012 <br />22 <br />23 <br />24 <br />WHEREAS parks and recreation programs are an essential part of the Roseville Community; and <br />25 <br />26 <br />WHEREAS parks and recreation are vitally important to establishing and maintaining the quality of life <br />27 <br />in Roseville and contribute to the economic and environmental well-being of Roseville and the larger <br />28 <br />community; and <br />29 <br />30 <br />WHEREAS our parks and recreation programs build healthy, active communities that aid in the <br />31 <br />prevention of chronic disease, promote social bonds by uniting neighbors and also improve and ensure <br />32 <br />the physical, mental and emotional health of all citizens; and <br />33 <br />34 <br />WHEREAS our parks and recreation programs increase Roseville’s economic prosperity through <br />35 <br />increased property values, increased tourism, the attraction and retention of residents and businesses, <br />36 <br />and crime reduction; and <br />37 <br />38 <br />WHEREAS our parks and natural recreation areas improve water quality, protect groundwater, prevent <br />39 <br />flooding, improve the quality of the air we breathe, provide vegetative buffers to development, and <br />40 <br />produce habitat for wildlife; and <br />41 <br />42 <br />WHEREAS our parks and natural recreation areas ensure the ecological beauty of our community and <br />43 <br />provide a place for children and adults to connect with nature and recreate outdoors; and <br />44 <br />45 <br />WHEREAS the U.S. House of Representatives has designated July as Parks and Recreation Month; and <br />46 <br />47 <br />WHEREAS Roseville Minnesota recognizes the benefits derived from parks and recreation resources <br />48 <br />49 <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY the Roseville City Council that July is recognized as <br />50 <br />Park and Recreation Month in the City of Roseville. <br />51 <br />52 <br />53 <br />54 <br />55 <br />56 <br />57 <br />58 <br />59 <br />60 <br />61 <br />Page 2 of 3 <br /> <br />
