Attachment A <br />CITY OF ROSEVILLE JOB DESCRIPTION <br />Job Description Title:FLSA Status: <br /> Server SpecialistExempt / Non Union <br />Department/Division:Position Status: <br />FinanceRegular Full-Time <br />Accountable To:Salary Grade: <br />IT Manager Exempt Level 12 <br />Prepared By:Revision Date: <br />Terre Heiser July, 2012 <br />Job Summary: <br />51 <br />Design, administer, and maintain the enterprise wide Microsoft Windows server systems. <br />52 <br />53 <br />Scope of Responsibility: <br />54 <br />This Server Specialist has the primary role to support Microsoft Windows servers and related components <br />55 <br />to achieve high availability and performance of the various business applications supported. This individual <br />56 <br />also participates in the planning and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure server <br />57 <br />provisioning and maintenance that is consistent with city goals, industry best practices, and regulatory <br />58 <br />requirements. <br />59 <br />60 <br />The Server Specialist performs advanced troubleshooting and analysis and sets limited precedent under <br />61 <br />management guidance that may affect a large group and have a large financial impact. Builds and <br />62 <br />maintains positive and effective working relationships with the City staff, staff key customers and vendor. <br />63 <br />Essential Duties and Responsibilities: <br />64 <br />1)Perform all tasks necessary to fulfill service level agreements regarding server data access, <br />65 <br />availability, and security. <br />66 <br />2)Implement policies, procedures, and technologies to ensure server security through secure access, <br />67 <br />monitoring, control, and routine security evaluations. <br />68 <br />3)Recommend, schedule, and perform software patches, upgrades, and/or purchases. <br />69 <br />4)Ensure that server implementations comply with policies, standards, licensing agreements, and <br />70 <br />configuration guidelines. <br />71 <br />5)Perform data archiving, retrieval, and deletion according to best-practices for maintaining <br />72 <br />regulatory compliance. <br />73 <br />6)Monitor, test, and analyze server software activities to ensure maximum performance, efficiency, <br />74 <br />and availability. <br />75 <br />7)Provide additional support for city database servers, messaging (MS Exchange), applications <br />76 <br />servers, and other systems. <br />77 <br />8)Provides frequent communication occasionally involving detailed procedural explanation or <br />78 <br />technical responses. <br />79 <br />9)Other duties as assigned <br />80 <br />81 <br />82 <br />Page 3 of 4 <br /> <br />
