Supplemental Facilities <br />Bicycle and pedestrian facilities include more than justthe paths themselves. Secure and appropriate <br />bicycle parking and locker facilities, comprehensive maps of Roseville's pathway network, mass <br />transit integration, rest areas, and trailheads are key components of a complete pathway network. <br />Roseville has few supplemental facilities for pathway users. They consist mostly of: <br />A) Bicycle parking and lockers <br />• bike racks of obsolete design that are sporadically placed in some parks and public buildings <br />• occasional bike racks located at commercial buildings <br />• few if any, bike lockers <br />• current city code does not address the issues of bicycle parking. <br />B) Pathways Map <br />• comprehensive pathways map showing all types of facilities within the City <br />• partnering with Active Living Ramsey County on developing a comprehensive County pathway <br />map. <br />C) Trail Heads and Rest Area <br />• utilizes existing parks w/ restrooms, picnic areas, recreational areas, drinking fountains <br />• need intermittent rest stops with benches between destinations <br />D) Transit Accommodations <br />• abundant transit opportunities <br />• limited and often unsafe light traffic access to transit stops and park and rides <br />• bus shelters at bus stops along high traffic roads <br />• bus benches at many bus stops <br />Current Operation & Maintenance Practices <br />Off -Road Pathways <br />The City's maintenance staff has the responsibility of making sure routine maintenance operations <br />are completed. <br />Listed below are the maintenance operations performed for the City's off -road pathways. <br />• Plowing: Remove any accumulation promptly and continuously until cleared. Accumulation of <br />two inches or more shall be removed within 24 hrs. <br />• Sanding: Sand anytime ice or snow adheres to the pathway. <br />• Sweeping: Sweep three times annually, spring, summer and fall, or when safety is of concern. <br />• Sealing/ Patching: Fill cracks or holes as they occur. <br />City of Roseville Pathway Master Plan <br />September 2008 Page 13 of 39 <br />
