She reviewed the list of suggested essay topics which the Commission could <br />�e submit to the League of Minnesota Human Rights Commissions (LMHRC). Siliciano said that <br />the Youth Commissioners tried to focus their suggested topics on issues which could apply to <br />Roseville's communit.�y other Minnesota communit� <br />189 Commissioners �R handed out to the Commission�€ a list <br />190 �°°�rof ten su�gested-state essay contest-topics, a co�y of which is hereby attached and made <br />191 part of the record, �e-���e-a��e��e��� �°r � r*'�° T"'�uD �' �e ce��for next <br />192 _year's LMHRC student essay contest.- Chair Grefenberg �€� guestioned � whether to include <br />193 the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. He suggested the youth commissioners or the <br />194 Commission narrow � the list--or prioritize it--to three or four recominended topics, addin� <br />195 however, that he would submit to the LMHRC whatever the� r��pon. Chair Grefenberg asked <br />196 that they send their final recommendations to him and he would�g submit them to the next <br />197 LMHRC meeting. <br />198 <br />199 Other Items: Youth Commissioner Siliciano reviewed a handout entitled Youth Commissioners' <br />200 pro�osalefo� Youth Discussions. Siliciano said the �'^���^°�^�°r� idea was to develop a youth <br />201 discussion group in Roseville. Ideas included meeting at different restaurants, providing pizzas or <br />202 having potluck. They thought buying pizzas would be the best way to encourage participation. They <br />203 asked that the Commission fund two discussions and then gauge the effectiveness. <br />204 <br />205 Chair Grefenberg asked about the current budget, noting there the LMHRC asked the City to host <br />206 their September 2012 meetin� and the April 2013 Essa_y Contest ��� lunch or reception for the <br />207 state-wide winners.meetin�s. <br />208 <br />209 <br />210 <br />211 <br />212 <br />213 <br />�� <br />Staff Financial Reuort <br />Carolyn Curti reviewed the budget, stating that the bill for $220 for Cafe Zia was not included yet. <br />That brings the total expenditure for the year to approximately $800, with $1,200 remaining. <br />214 Chair Grefenberg said the Lea e's September meeting in Roseville � may include providing <br />215 lunch for about 10 people. The Apri12013 meeting would be the celebration to honor the essay <br />216 contest winners. Commissioners had questions about the number of attendees and cost sharing <br />217 which Chair Grefenberg said he would raise with the League's Board of Directors. <br />218 <br />219 Commissioners agreed by consensus to host the September 2012 League meeting, but asked for <br />220 mare information before deciding to host the April 2013 Essa_y Contest �i-r�g event. <br />221 <br />222 Commissioner poneen moved and Commissioner Groff seconded motion to allocate up to $75 per <br />223 youth discussion group meeting to cover the cost of pizza and refreshments. Motion prevailed <br />224 unanimously. Chair Grefenber�questioned the tota] cost and asked the Youth Commissioners to <br />225 keep the costs down. <br />
