Regular City Council Meeting AND <br /> Board of Adjustments and Appeals <br /> Monday,July 16, 2012 <br /> Page 4 <br /> 7) Regarding statements that Wal-Mart was the wrong business for the Roseville <br /> community, Mayor Roe noted that the City should not and could not discriminate in <br /> that manner for types of land use development. <br /> 8) Regarding Roseville values and whether a Wal-Mart would be good for Roseville, <br /> Mayor Roe pointed out that there were Wal-Marts in multiple metropolitan com- <br /> munities, and he didn't consider them having bad values. <br /> Mayor Roe expressed his interest in Roseville welcoming all people and not discrimi- <br /> nating against anyone. <br /> Councilmember Willmus agreed that there may be some overlap in his comments relat- <br /> ed to the Preliminary Plat and discussion to be held later about the appeals; and there- <br /> fore wished to keep his comments to a minimum. Councilmember Willmus confirmed <br /> his support of the Preliminary Plat; and his belief that this proposal was not in conflict <br /> with the City's Zoning Code, and therefore not the 2030 Comprehensive Plan. <br /> 4. Recognize Grass Lakes Watershed Management Organization Board <br /> Members <br /> On behalf of the City Council, staff and the community, Mayor Roe recognized <br /> Commissioners of the Grass Lakes Water Management Organization <br /> (GLWMO), Commissioners Steve Barrett, Jonathan Miller and Mary Kay Von <br /> De Linde; and acknowledged their contributions and expressed appreciation for <br /> volunteering their time and talents serving the broader community on this <br /> Board. Mayor Roe noted that the GLWMO had been dissolved, and the geo- <br /> graphical area of the GLWMO merged with the Ramsey-Washington Metro <br /> Watershed District for public cost-savings and staffing efficiencies. <br /> Commissioner Mary Kay Von De Linde was present and received her personal <br /> recognition from Mayor Roe. <br /> Commissioner Von De Linde stated that it had been an honor and privilege to <br /> represent Roseville on the GLWMO Board. Commissioner Von De Linde not- <br /> ed that, when it became apparent that future activities to address water quality <br /> issues had become highly technical and costly in nature, it was the consensus of <br /> the GLWMO Board to recommend that it merge with Ramsey-Washington. <br /> Commissioner Von De Linde stated that she loved Roseville, and was glad she <br /> could be a partner in serving the community. <br /> Mayor Roe recognized Commissioners Barrett and Miller, even though they <br /> were unable to attend tonight's meeting.
