primarilyconcernedaboutthecostsoftheprogramandthatarentallicensingprogramwouldunduly <br />{¦Ò“z­w|propertieswithexistinggoodpropertymanagementpractices.Somecitieshavealsoenlisted <br />thehelpoftheMinnesotaMultiHousingAssociationtoprovidefeedbackonbehalfofitsmembersand <br />theindustryasawhole.Mostofthesecitiescontinuetoincorporatethisfeedbackintothe <br />implementationoftheirrentallicenseprograms <br />Collaboration <br />Becausethemajorityofthecitiesthatparticipatedinthisstudyareconcernedbothaboutproperty <br />maintenanceandcriminalactivity,theywerealsoaskedaboutcollaborationbetweencitylicensing, <br />police,andfiredepartments.Twocitieshavestaffintheirpolicedepartmentsdedicatedtoworkingwith <br />problemproperties.Additionally,mostcitieshavesomesystemofreportingthatallowsthelicensing <br />departmentstaffresponsiblefortherentallicensingprogramtobealertedoncecrimesfallingunder <br />certainclassificationsarereported.Fivecitieshaveeitherweekly,monthly,orquarterlymeetings <br />involvingthelicensing,fireandpolicedepartmentstodiscussissueswithproblemproperties. <br />Additionally,theHopkinsrentallicensingstaffconductstrainingsforpoliceofficerssothattheyare <br />awareofthedisorderlyconductstipulationsoftherentallicenseordinance.InBrooklynCenter,the <br />crimeanalystinthepolicedepartmentisrequiredtoapproveallmitigationplansproducedasaresultof <br />excessivepoliceservicecallstoaproperty.Inallofthesecities,policeandfireofficialscananddo <br />reportcodeviolationsnoticedduringcallstotheinspectionsdepartment. <br />15 <br /> <br />
