<br />EXTRACT OF MINUTES OF MEETING OF THE <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEVILLE <br /> <br />* * * * * * * * * * * <br /> <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of the City Council of the City <br />of Roseville, County of Ramsey, Minnesota was duly held on the 15th day of December, <br />1997, at 6:30 p.m. <br /> <br />The following members were present: Goedeke, Maschka, Acting Mayor Wiski, and the <br />following were absent: Mastel and Wall. <br /> <br />Member Goedeke introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 9499 <br /> <br />APPLICATION FOR GRANT FROM THE <br />MINNESOTA AMATEUR SPORTS COMMISSION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Minnesota Amateur Sports Commission (MASC), via the State General <br />Fund, provides funds to assist political subdivision of the State of Minnesota for the <br />development of youth sports and recreation programs; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Roseville Parks and Recreation Department has conducted <br />numerous recreation and sports programs for youngsters of varying needs and abilities; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Roseville Parks and Recreation Department has discovered a need to <br />improve the "Adventure Park" program and facilities to provide increased opportunities for <br />youngsters interested and involved in non-traditional recreation and sports; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Roseville Parks and Recreation Department has developed a program to <br />provide incentives for youngsters to attend classes and improve their academic standing <br />while having fun and improving their sports skills; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Roseville, in conjunction with the <br />Roseville Police Department and other community organizations, wishes to improve <br />recreation and sport opportunities in non-traditional sports by adding improved equipment <br />at the Roseville Skating Center "Adventure Park" at the cost of $20,000, and is requesting <br />$10,000 from the State General Fund; <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Director of Parks and Recreation is authorized and <br />directed to execute said application and serve as the official liaison with the Minnesota <br />Amateur Sports Commission on this project. <br />
