Members shall be appointed for three year terms. In addition to the members appointed above, the City <br /> Council may for one year terms appoint additional residents of the city under 21 years of age to serve as (ex officio) <br /> members of the parks and recreation commission. A vacancy shall exist if any of the following occur: death, failure to serve as <br /> shown by failure to attend a specified number of regular meetings as established by the commission, residence outside <br /> the city, or resignation. (Ord. 1038, 6-27-1988; amd. 1995 Code) <br /> n uuuum i of IIIIIV i I m° IIIIIIII m mtl � IIIIIIII <br /> The commission shall annually elect one member to serve as chairperson and one member to serve as vice chairperson. <br /> Minutes of the commission shall be filed and retained by the parks and recreation commission, as well as other <br /> recommendations and studies performed by the commission. Serve in an advisory capacity to the City Council, City Manager and Director of Parks and Recreation on parks and <br /> recreation matters. <br /> B. Maintain an interest in and an understanding of the functions and operations of the parks and recreation department. <br /> C. Maintain an interest in and an understanding of the city school system and promote the greatest possible utilization of <br /> school and municipal recreation programs. <br /> D. Endeavor to secure a full and complete understanding of the city's needs and desires for parks and recreational <br /> facilities and be sensitive to the acceptance within the community of the current program. <br /> E. Convey to the City Council their understanding of the community's sentiment regarding recreation and parks and to <br /> submit recommendations to the City Council on parks and recreation programs and policy. <br /> F. Review conditions and adequacy of city park property. <br /> G. Provide hearings to groups or individuals, upon request, regarding parks and recreation matters. <br /> H. Keep informed and consider all financial aspects pertaining to parks and recreation. <br /> I. Consider proper names for city park property. <br /> J. Propose regulations for control of city park property to the City Council. <br /> K. Advise and assist architectural engineers on preparation of specific plans prior to the presentation to the City Council <br /> for formal approval. <br /> L. Represent the city at community functions where appropriate and approved by the City Council. <br /> M. Represent the city at meetings with other community, county or state boards of similar nature where appropriate and <br /> approved by the City Council. <br /> N. Perform other duties and functions or conduct studies and investigations as specifically directed or delegated by the <br /> City Council. (Ord. 1038, 6-27-1988) <br /> O.
