� <br />� <br />� <br />� <br />� <br />� <br />� <br />� <br />CHIEF EXECiJTIVE OFFICER <br />�nction Narrative <br />Consolidation Coordinator - An interim position far administrative troubl�shooting for <br />myriad consolidation difficulties, acting as a referral agent in reconciling differences. The <br />functions of this position would be consolidafied with that of the inter-gavernmental liaison. <br />Inspections - Continually evaluate internal operating controls to ensure efficiency, economy <br />and effectiveness of policy and procedures. <br />Internal Affairs - Investigate allegations of personnel misconduct. <br />Inter-f�overnmental Liaison - Routinely meet with the other governmental officials at local, <br />county, state. and federal levels, to plan joint strategies and #o ensure agency responsiveness. <br />Media Comrnunication Coordinator - Represent the agency through the brnadcast and <br />�rint media. Appear on television and radio progY-ams, being available for interviews on <br />topics of current concern, as well as to publicize agency programs and initiatives. Wouid be <br />cast as police "celebrity" to represent the CEO, being trained to handle �igh profile stress <br />interviews. <br />Public Relations - Represent the agency to smaller groups, not requiring the media as an <br />intermediary. No representative personalitywould be cultivated, as in the case of the media/ <br />communication coordinator. <br />Sneakers Bureau - Personnel trained in public speaking. This differs from the media/ <br />� communication coordinator in that personnel would not undertake stress, or inherently <br />adversaria.l interviews. It differs from the public relations office in that personnel merely <br />deliver remarks, and transmit texts prepared by other units. <br />Crime Prevention - Undertake vulnerability studies for individuals and groups such as the <br />elderly. and formulate victimization reduction strategies, as well as traditional crime <br />preventian #unctions such as neighborhood watch groups and operation identification. <br />D.A.R.E. Unit - A funding dispersal, resource allocation, and personnel assignment and <br />monitoring source for satellite D.A.R.E. units. <br />Neir�hborhood Council - Solicit local concerns and recommend shifting of focus and <br />� tailoring delivery of law enforcement service to meet unique needs. It would be similar to <br />the inter-governmental liaison, but would deal directly with citizens on tartical approaches, <br />' rather than governmental officials with strategic approaches to more globsl concerns. <br />Volcinteer Services - Ensure recruitment, retention, and deployment of reserve, explorer <br />and neighborhood assistance officers, in support of other agency operations and prograins. <br />A section providing language interpreters would also be fnstituted, as would a section <br />coordinating a police intern program. <br />� <br />� 18 <br />
