� � - <br />INVESTI ATI NS <br />�nction Narrative <br />Investigations would be headed up by a Division Commander. There wauld be twelve (12) <br />Investigative Units headed up by unit commanders reporting to three section commanders. <br />Each Investigative Unit would be staffed by Investigators who would report ta the unit head. <br />The Investigator position would be an appointed or tested position with a pay grade between <br />Police Officer and unit head. He/she would have no supervisory responsibilities in the unit <br />other than at crime scenes. The Division Commander would have two (2) civilian positions: <br />1) Secretary <br />2) Crime analyst - Managing Criminal Investigations <br />The following is a short break�own of unit responsibilities: <br />Narcotics: Investigates all narcotics activity and undercover operations. <br />Vice: Investiga#es prostitution, liquor, pornography. <br />SIU: (5pecial Investigations Unit) Gang activity, intelligence information, <br />federal and state law enforcement interface, assistance to other investigative units and an <br />adult career criminal program. <br />Robberv: All robberies, state and federal violations_ <br />�uvenile: All juvenile violations, missing persons, and a juvenile career criminal program. <br />Sex Crimes: All sex crimes and child abuse. <br />Family Violence; All domestic related assaults between family members and companions, <br />all viola#ions of restraining and no contact court orders. This unit would also contain the <br />Field Referral Unit located in the Courthouse. Thi� unit would also have an intervention <br />component #hat would strongly assist victims getting into programs. <br />Homicide: All deaths and assaults not covered by Family Violence. Kidnappings, <br />threats and weapon violations. <br />Auto Theft: All investigation of stolen vehicles. <br />Theft: All investigations of thefts and monitoring of pawnshop and precious metal <br />operations. <br />Fraud-Forg� Arsan: All investigations of fraud, forgery and arson. This unit would also <br />contain the ordnance disposal investigations. <br />Burglar� All investigations of burglary. <br />Gamblin�: With increased gambling sources in the state, illegsl activities have increased <br />which warrants a separate unit. <br />Asset Forfeiture: Presently no one in the county does much with asset foi-feiture. This should <br />be developed and could be a large revenue center for the county. <br />23 <br />
