� <br />� <br />� <br />� <br />� <br />SUPPORT SERVICES <br />�nction Narrative <br />Support Services will be headed by a division commander. The division commander's office <br />will include the division commander, an aide, and a secretary. <br />Support Services is then broken down into five sections. Each seckion will be headed by a <br />section commander. The section commander's office will include the section commander <br />and a secretary. <br />The following is a description of the units making up the first section: <br />� COMMiTNICATIONS: The Communications Center will have a unit commander who will <br />have an assis#ant and a secretary in the unit head's immediate office. The assistant will <br />� oversee the ?ead supexvisor on each shift, and will fill in for the unit commander during <br />absences, and administer to the CAD. Each shift will have a lead supervisor plus three other <br />shift supervisors. Each of these four supervisors will wark similar schedules. Each shift will <br />� liave twenty telecommunicator/ dispatchers. The shift supervisors will also work as dis- <br />patchers as necessary. Personnel number may be adjusted depending on workload. The <br />Communications Center should be civilianized and could stress recruitment of handi- <br />� capped individuals. <br />TELESERVE: An offshoot of the Communications Center. Teleserve will have one supervisor <br />and will be staffed with six to eight individuals. The Teleserve Unit will operate Monday <br />through Saturday during business hours. This unit will take efter the fact, low priority, and <br />insurance type reports over the phone to free up squads for higher priority calls. Personnel <br />numbers may be adjusted according to worlcload. <br />RECORDS: Records will have a unit commander who will have an assistant and a secretary. <br />Each shift will have two shift supervisors, one of which will be the lead supervisor. Each shift <br />will have two review officers. Each shift will have ten clerk typists assigried. The day shift and <br />the afternoon shift will each have six additionai employees for the purpose of administering <br />to the clerical needs of the Identification function. <br />IDENTTFICATION: The Identification Unit will consist af one unit commander, and nine <br />employees. The identification Unit will be responsible for processing prisoners arrested <br />within the county. <br />DETENTION: Detention could be undertaken by the county police force or it could remain <br />with the Sheriff provided the Sheriff's office remains independent. The detention fiinctian <br />could also be filled by a private contractor. This decision would have to be made after <br />researching all possibilities thoroughly. �me constraints do no# allow for that at this time. <br />The following outlines the issues and options. <br />25 <br />
