A"do
nothing" option should also be considered.
MANAGEMENT OPTIONS FOR BENNETT LAKE
Bennett Lake has multiple, systemic management challenges and will ikely require a
considerable commitment of resorces to achieve noticeable improvemcnts in water quality. The
options presented below are made based on what we know about the system now (Table 5.5). It
may make sense for the City to pursue Phase 1 management optians now, but consider a more
detailed technical assessment of the iake and its watershed to evaivate the specific costs, benefits,
and feasibility of structural measures to decrease the pollutant loading to the lake. Outside
sources of funding ta support this effort may be available Ehrough MPCA's Clean Water
Partnership Probram and the Grass Lake Watershed Managennent Organization.
Table 5.5 -- Nlanagemet options matrix for Bennett .ake
Activity Phase Estimated Cost Comments
Targeted street- 1 $15Q/street mile Sweep direct drainage In March/early
sweeping April, June, October/Novcmber,
remainder of drainage as budget allows
Soil phosphorus 1 $400-6Q0 in Top priority are maintained areas of
testing analytical costs Central ParC and residential areas in airect
for 50-$0 drainae.
