Restoration of the basin by excavation was ranked low due to it location <br />away from trails arzd its existing function for water quality treatment being high. <br />Community AC-WS <br />Lowland Hardwood Swamp <br />Qualitative Rank: Low <br />Area: 0.2 acres <br />With the location of the Beehivc at a ttigher elevation and the natural infiltration process in this <br />basin it has the hydrology and resembles a plant co�nmunity of a Iowland hardwood swamp. The <br />species within the basin include silver maple, cotionwood, and reed canary �rass. Carrently the <br />closed canopy of the site limits herbaceous growth. Removal of undesirable tree and shrub <br />species will enable more light genetration a�d development of ground cover. Its small size <br />makes it znanageable for reintroduction of species and a low cost restoration.
