<br />Attachment C 1 <br />Parks and Recreation Department 2 <br /> 3 <br /> 4 <br /> 5 <br /> Memo 6 <br />To: Chris Miller, Finance Director 7 <br />From: Lonnie Brokke, Director of Parks and Recreation 8 <br />Date: November 6, 2012 9 <br />Re: Parks and Recreation Commissions Park Dedication Ra te Recommendation 10 <br />Background 11 <br />There are two parts to the current rate st ructure in the Park Dedication Ordinance 12 <br />that are established annually by resolution. First is the Residential rate and the 13 <br />second is the Commercial/Industrial rate. 14 <br /> 15 <br />It is the responsibility of the Parks and Recreation Commission to review the rate 16 <br />annually and make a recommendation to the City Council. The Commission has 17 <br />had this item as a regular topic of discu ssion at the joint Cit y Council meeting. 18 <br /> 19 <br />In 2011, the residential rate increas ed from $3000 per unit to $3500 per unit. 20 <br /> 21 <br />The Commercial/Industrial rate has remained at 5% of the Fair Market Value (FMV) 22 <br />since the late 1980’s. 23 <br /> 24 <br />The monies are placed in a restricted Park Dedication Fund and cannot be used 25 <br />for maintenance. 26 <br /> 27 <br />Recommendation 28 <br />A survey of surrounding communities was updated and presented to the 29 <br />Commission at their November 1 st , 2012 meeting.
