<br />Project P -ST -SW -W -13 -02 Feasibility Report <br />Dale Street Reconstruc tion <br />7 <br />PUBLIC INVOLVEMENT <br />The public involvement process for this proposed project consisted of a series of four <br />neighborhood meetings in 20 1 2 . Meeting notices were sent out at le a st two weeks in advance <br />to all property owners abutting the street to be reconstructed . <br />The first meeting was held at 6:00 p . m. on August 7 , at Shoreview City Hall, where staff <br />presented information regarding the proposed reconstruction project , construction process and <br />assessment policy. Residents provided input regarding neighborhood concerns along the <br />corridor. Among these were: s treet design/ parking, pedestrian safety, drainage, traffic, street <br />lights, and undergrounding power lines. <br />The second meetin g was on Thursday, October 4 , at 6 :00 p . m ., at Shoreview City Hall, where <br />staff showed the residents a proposed street design. This design included a 6 foot wide <br />detached concrete sidewalk along the south side of the street, along with a parking lane alo ng <br />the north side of the street for the entire corridor. <br />On Saturday, October 27 , at 10:00 a.m. there was a “walk thru” meeting on site. This meeting <br />started at Lexington Avenue and continued east toward Victoria Street . It was a meeting in <br />motion. The City surveyor marked the location of the new curb and pathway, allowing staff to <br />be able to meet with residents individually to discuss the project and show them how it would <br />change the right of way adjacent to their property. <br />Our final information meeti ng was 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 29 , at the Lutheran <br />Church of the Resurrection . At that meeting, staff presented the preliminary staff <br />recommendations including project cost and proposed assessments for the project. <br />Preliminary plans were also pre sented . <br />The Public Works Commission reviewed and commented on the project at their October 23, <br />2012 Commission meeting. <br />This report summarizes the design items that were discussed durin g the public involvement <br />process. <br />
