B <br />New Business <br />��������������� <br />An Honor Coming for the Roseville Police <br />Department <br />Karen Organization recognizing the department for its work with the Karen community. <br />• By Scott Carlson <br />• 5:45 am January 7, 2013 <br />� <br />Roseville Police Chief Rick Mathwig. He is expected, on behalf of the Roseville Police <br />Department, to receive an award this Saturday from the Karen Organization of Minnesota. <br />The Karen Organization of Minnesota (KOM) will be honoring the Roseville <br />Police Department this coming Saturday. <br />The ceremony is scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon at Johnson High School in St. <br />Paul. Roseville Police Chief Rick Mathwig is excepted to accept the award from <br />the Karen Organization. <br />KOM has said it is honoring the Roseville Police Department for its positive work <br />with the Karen community over the past few years. The awards ceremony is on <br />the same day the Karen community is celebrating its New Year. <br />On its website, the Karen Organization said, "The Karen (pronounced Ka-REN) <br />are an ethnic group from the mountainous border regions of Burma and Thailand, <br />where they are the second largest ethnic group in each country. They have long <br />been subject to persecution and ethnic cleansing by the Burmese government, <br />
