Many methods and tools are used to connect with members of the Ramsey County community <br />including: <br />GreenGatherings website for guidance on recycling at events <br />"Going Green Guide" <br />Collaboration with SWMCR on RethinkRecycling.com <br />The web -based "A to Z Disposal Guide" <br />"The HazWaste Quarterly" is sent to all hazardous waste generators <br />Community Power grants <br />Messages on electronic signs and dasher boards at County arenas <br />Notification of website revisions automatically sent to subscribers <br />Sponsorships on TPT to promote RethinkRecycling.com and other messages <br />In cooperation with Washington County through the Resource Recovery Project: <br />Postcards sent to residences and businesses with recycling messages <br />Web ads <br />Provide funding for on -site presentations at the Resource Recovery Facility for schools <br />and community groups <br />Provide targeted outreach on solid waste issues to residents of both counties <br />Provide Trash Trunks for checkout by individuals and community groups <br />Culturally Specific Outreach <br />Cultural consultants are on contract to ensure the provision of culturally appropriate outreach and <br />communication to the Hmong, Hispanic /Latino and Somali communities. Numerous discussion and <br />focus groups have been held within the Hmong, Hispanic /Latino and Somali communities in order to <br />learn more about each community's communication needs. <br />In 2011, a large partnership with Hmong businesses located in the Hmong Village on the East Side of <br />Saint Paul centered on capturing food waste and recycling for cans and bottles. 10,000 Spanish - <br />language calendars to provide information about HHW were developed and distributed. And a total of <br />230 households participated in a special HHW collection event held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in <br />Saint Paul. The event was heavily promoted to the Hispanic /Latino community through direct mail <br />postcards, newspapers and radio. <br />Culturally specific education is delivered through presentations, events, newspaper, radio and printed <br />handouts. The 633.EASY Recycling and Disposal Hotline offers interpretation service residents who <br />have limited proficiency in English. <br />Partnerships <br />Ramsey County partners with cities, district councils and watershed districts to deliver consistent <br />messages to residents. <br />Ramsey County partners with Washington County through the Ramsey / Washington County Resource <br />Recovery project to enhance education on solid and hazardous waste issues to residential and non- <br />residential generators. <br />Health education staff members work directly with municipalities recycling coordinators to provide <br />technical assistance, assist with outreach, and coordinate events that include recycling and waste <br />reduction activities. In addition, these same staff work with recycling coordinators and district councils <br />to increase recycling at multi -unit residential buildings through the distribution of recycling bags, facts <br />sheets, posters and education sessions. <br />Ramsey County Solid Waste Master Plan 2011 -2030 Page 148 <br />Approved by the Ramsey County Board of Commissioners on 3120112 <br />
