I primarily taught junior high, but I also some elementary and some high school. The St. Paul Public Schools student body is diverse: Hmong, Hispanic, Caucasion, African-Americn, Native American, Thailand, Vietnamese, Somolian, and a few first generation Russians. I have had great practice negotiating with diverse communities to insure their children are successful in school, and facilitated partnerships between my school music program, the Guthrie Theater, MPR, Dakota Grill (jazz club), the Minnesota Orchestra, NY Lincoln Center, extensive fund raising, and for 2 years the Ed Chair on the BOD of the Twin Cities Jazz Society.
