REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION
Date: 2/25/2013
Item No.: 12.c
Department Approval City Manager Approval

Item Description: Receive 2012 Performance Measurement Results

B ACKGROUND 1
In 2010 City Staff developed a list of performance meas ures to complement existing reports and statistics 2
that are used to provide guidance for future deci sion making. These measures were established in 3
accordance with the City’s Imagine Roseville 2025 vi sioning process and goals established by the City 4
Council. They also include a number of operating i ndices that are used to manage city programs and 5
services. 6
7
The 2012 results are included in Attachment A . 8
9
It should be noted that these performance measures are not meant to be an all-encompassing reflection on 10
the results or outcomes the City achieves. The succe ss of city programs and services are affected by a 11
number of determinants including the availability of financial and staffing resources. However, these 12
measures should allow the City to ga uge whether established standards are being met, and whether the City 13
is making adequate progress on achieving its long-term goals and objectives. 14
15
It is suggested that performance measures remain inte grated with other citywide best practices such as; 16
strategic planning or visioning, seeking citizen input , establishing goals and objectives, preparing multi-17
year capital improvement plans and financial plans, and adopting an annual budget. 18
P OLICY O BJECTIVE 19
Establishing and implementing performance measures is consistent with the Imagine Roseville 2025 20
process and industry-recommended practices. 21
F INANCIAL I MPACTS 22
Not applicable. 23
S TAFF R ECOMMENDATION 24
Not applicable. 25
26
