<br />Women’s History Month <br />March 2013 <br /> <br />Whereas : The City of Roseville is committed to recognizing and honoring contributions of <br />all members of our community; and <br /> <br />Whereas : In 1980 the Joint Congressional Resoluti on declared the week of March 8 as <br />National Women’s History Week, and in 1987 Congress expanded the celebration of women’s <br />contributions to the enti re month of March; and <br /> <br />Whereas : The movement recognizes and celebrates contributions that women of every race, <br />class and ethnic background ha ve made to the world; and <br /> <br />Whereas : It was not until 1833 that Oberlin College became the first college in the United <br />States to admit women; and <br /> <br />Whereas : Even as “coeducation” grew, women’s c ourses of study were of ten different from <br />men’s, and women’s role models were few, as most faculty members were male; and <br /> <br />Whereas : Generations of women thr oughout American history have used their intelligence, <br />imagination, sense of wonder, a nd tenacity to make extraordinary contributions to the Science <br />Technology, Engineering and Mathematics fields; and <br />Whereas : The 2013 National Women’s History Month, Women Inspiring Innovation <br />Through Imagination: Celebrating Women in Science, Technology, Engineering and <br />Mathematics , honors the contributions of women throughout history. <br />Now, Therefore Be It Resolved , that the City Council here by declare March 2012 to be <br />Women’s History Month in the City of Roseville , County of Ramsey, State of Minnesota, U.S.A. <br />In Witness Whereof , I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the City of Roseville <br />to be affixed this twenty -fifth day of February 2013. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />________________________ <br />Mayor Daniel J.
