Expenses : <br />• 20 1 2 – Staffing, vehicle, insurance, gas, office, postage, printing - $23,272 . <br /> <br />Accomplishments: <br />• To date have performed 18, 702 residential properties inspections and eliminated 850 public nuisance <br />viola tions : <br />o Public c ooperation on correcting public nu isances has been exceptional. <br />o 98% complied with simple letter requests for compliance . Most, who have not complied, have <br />not done so due to financial and/or physical hardship. <br />• Continuing with informational brochure to educate residents about common public nuisance violations <br />in an effort to minimize violations through education and cooperation : <br />o Each initial letter includes this brochure. <br />o This brochure is also included in the City’s Welcome Packet. <br />• Each init ial mailing includes HRA Program information and HRC Program information. <br />• Generating g oodwill: <br />o Have received many supportive comments from the public about the Program. <br />o League of Women Voters endorsement of the program. <br />Observations : <br />• P ublic comment has be en overwhelmingly supportive of the program. <br />• We are seeing very encouraging trends: <br /> The “percentage rate of public nusiances observed”, is trending down, significantly. <br /> We are seeing fewer violations, in the same neighborhoods, in following years. <br /> We are seeing smaller violations and few i ns tances of multiple violations. <br /> The violations we are seeing are sma ller and easier for the property owners to address. <br />• Still observing more violations in neighborhoods of older homes ; this is to be expected due to typi cally <br />smaller lots, smaller garages and older construction . <br />• Some p roperty m aintenance cases remain difficult to resolve due to financial /physical hardship by the <br />property owner. <br />2012 NEP Report <br />Case Counts by Month <br />Type May June July Aug Sept Oct TO TAL <br />Commercial in Res.
