Holt responded by recognizing that the Best Value approach o 51and using Best Practicescontribute to a good project package. 52Commissioner Ristowshared his experiences about being approached by individuals 53from other communities that have learned about Roseville’s renewal program asking 54for information and giving recognition for doing the right thing. 55The Natural Resources and Trails committee has been meeting and working with staff 56on volunteer projects and future project recommendations. 57Staff reminded Commissioners that the Master Plan calls for a natural areato o 58be included in every park that is part of the renewal program and also included 59the addition of aneducation component tied to the Nature Center whenever 60possible. 61The Renewal Program Natural Resource projects will involve a design build o 62contract. 63Natural Resource RFP will identify a process for future restoration and o 64recognize city-wide issuesrelated to restoration. nd 65Evenson updated the Commission on the January 2Natural Resources and o 66Trails committee meeting. 67Work is progressing on the Reservoir woods Buckthorn project. 68Public Works staff are pulling together more information on pathways 69and trails for the committee to review/discuss. 70Volunteers and staff are looking at the possibility of completing 71pathway connectionsfor a constellation or two to demonstrate the 72concept and hopefully provide motivation for future attention. 73Mary Holt recognized that there are areas in the system that only need 74small connections to make the pathway system in that specificarea 75complete. 76 Commission Discussion: 77 78Commission Chair Holt introduced the January 28 Best Value Presentationat the 79Council meeting. The session will be ledby the ASU staff. Commissioners, school 80district representatives, Ramsey County staff will be invited to join the Council for 81the information session. 82Mary Holt asked about the Volunteer coordinator position. How should the 83Commission pursue a Council recommendation? Recently, community members have 84shown that people are anxious to be involved and want to help support various 85projects. 86 MEETING CALENDAR FOR 2013 874. th 88June 10was suggested as the Parks and Recreation/Council Joint meeting date. 89The August meeting date was suggested to begin at 8pm to allow Commissioners 90time to participate in local Neighborhood Night Out activities. 91A Saturday September date will be discussed later. This time is traditionally used to 92tour park locations and parks and recreation facilities. 93The rescheduled November meeting date will be set at a later time. th 94Commissioners recommended that additional meeting time be added to the June 10 95meeting to review renewal program activities and other Commissioner related items. 96Commissioners also suggested considering a July meeting in an effort to stay 97connected through the heat of the renewal program.
