Holt responded by recognizing that the Best Value approach <br />o <br />51and using Best Practicescontribute to a good project package. <br />52Commissioner Ristowshared his experiences about being approached by individuals <br />53from other communities that have learned about Roseville’s renewal program asking <br />54for information and giving recognition for doing the right thing. <br />55The Natural Resources and Trails committee has been meeting and working with staff <br />56on volunteer projects and future project recommendations. <br />57Staff reminded Commissioners that the Master Plan calls for a natural areato <br />o <br />58be included in every park that is part of the renewal program and also included <br />59the addition of aneducation component tied to the Nature Center whenever <br />60possible. <br />61The Renewal Program Natural Resource projects will involve a design build <br />o <br />62contract. <br />63Natural Resource RFP will identify a process for future restoration and <br />o <br />64recognize city-wide issuesrelated to restoration. <br />nd <br />65Evenson updated the Commission on the January 2Natural Resources and <br />o <br />66Trails committee meeting. <br />67Work is progressing on the Reservoir woods Buckthorn project. <br />68Public Works staff are pulling together more information on pathways <br />69and trails for the committee to review/discuss. <br />70Volunteers and staff are looking at the possibility of completing <br />71pathway connectionsfor a constellation or two to demonstrate the <br />72concept and hopefully provide motivation for future attention. <br />73Mary Holt recognized that there are areas in the system that only need <br />74small connections to make the pathway system in that specificarea <br />75complete. <br />76 <br />Commission Discussion: <br />77 <br />78Commission Chair Holt introduced the January 28 Best Value Presentationat the <br />79Council meeting. The session will be ledby the ASU staff. Commissioners, school <br />80district representatives, Ramsey County staff will be invited to join the Council for <br />81the information session. <br />82Mary Holt asked about the Volunteer coordinator position. How should the <br />83Commission pursue a Council recommendation? Recently, community members have <br />84shown that people are anxious to be involved and want to help support various <br />85projects. <br />86 <br />MEETING CALENDAR FOR 2013 <br />874. <br />th <br />88June 10was suggested as the Parks and Recreation/Council Joint meeting date. <br />89The August meeting date was suggested to begin at 8pm to allow Commissioners <br />90time to participate in local Neighborhood Night Out activities. <br />91A Saturday September date will be discussed later. This time is traditionally used to <br />92tour park locations and parks and recreation facilities. <br />93The rescheduled November meeting date will be set at a later time. <br />th <br />94Commissioners recommended that additional meeting time be added to the June 10 <br />95meeting to review renewal program activities and other Commissioner related items. <br />96Commissioners also suggested considering a July meeting in an effort to stay <br />97connected through the heat of the renewal program. <br /> <br />
