This year more than 180 4 <br />students from RAMS and Parkview School ente red the contest. Commissioners conducted an 5 <br />anonymous review of the essays. Names of the students were not known until after the winners 6 <br />were selected. 7 <br /> 8 <br />This year we asked students: 9 <br /> 10 <br />As a member in your community, what responsibility do you have to protect human rights in 11 <br />your community? How can you make a change in your community? 12 <br /> 13 <br /> Reference the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the United 14 <br />States Bill of Rights or the Minnesota Human Rights Act. 15 <br /> 16 <br />The Commission will recognize the following students and teachers: 17 <br /> 18 <br />First place Nicholas Behrens 8 th Grade Parkview Mr. Lucas Ebert 19 <br />Second place Grace Smith 8 th Grade Parkview Mr. Lucas Ebert 20 <br />Third place Rose Wagner 8 th Grade Parkview Mr. Lucas Ebert 21 <br /> 22 <br />Honorable Mention Olivia DiGiorno 8 th Grade Parkview Mr. Lucas Ebert 23 <br />Honorable Mention Heather Knutson 8 th Grade Parkview Mr. Lucas Ebert 24 <br />Honorable Mention Eli Sailer-Haugland 7 th Grade RAMS Mr. Cameron Johnson 25 <br /> 26 <br />The first, second and third place winners will be invited to read their essays.
