MEMORANDUM <br />To: Parks and Recreation Commission <br />From: Lonnie Brokke <br />Date: March 25, 2013 <br />Re: Notes for Commission Meeting on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 <br />1. Introductions/Public Comment Invited <br />Commissioners and staff will be introduced. Public participation and public comment is <br />encouraged. <br />2. Approval of Minutes of the March 5, 2013 Meeting <br />Enclosed is a copy of the minutes of March 5, 2013. Please be prepared to approve <br />or amend. <br />Requested Commission Action: Approve/amend meeting minutes of March 5, 2013 <br />3. Administer Oath of Office to New Commissioners <br />Chair Holt will officially swear in newly appointed Commissioners Philip Gelbach and Jerry Stoner. <br />Thank you for your willingness to serve the community. <br />Requested Commission Action: Swearing in and thank you for willingness and interest to <br />serve. <br />4. Recognize Former Commissioner and Chair Jason Etten <br />Former Commission Member, Chair and now City Council Member Jason Etten was recently <br />presented with the 2012 Minnesota Recreation and Park Association Board and Commission <br />Award. The award was presented to Mr. Etten for his contributions to public policies, financing and <br />delivery of high quality recreation and park services that have enriched the lives of the people of <br />Roseville. Specifically, Mr. Etten was recognized for his efforts in working with the community and <br />citizen organizing teams to help identify the System Master Plan implementation options. <br />Requested Commission Action: Recognize Former Commissioner Jason Etten <br />5. Park and Recreation Renewal Program <br />The Renewal Program continues with the first set of preliminary plans nearing completion. <br />Following the process outlined, the neighborhood meetings for the following projects are now <br />complete with the next step to receive your input and consideration for a recommendation to the <br />City Council. The preliminary plans in your packet for your review are as follows: <br />• Harriet Alexander Nature Center (in collaboration with FORHANC and FOR Parks) <br />• Lexington Park <br />• Villa Park <br />Autumn Grove Park neighborhood/community meeting #2 is scheduled for Monday evening, April <br />1St, so preliminary plans are not in your packet. However, we hope to bring the plans to the <br />meeting for your review and input. <br />Michael Schroeder, LHB/lead consultant and staff will be prepared to review the above mentioned <br />plans with you. <br />At your May meeting, it is anticipated that you will have another set of preliminary plans to review, <br />provide input and consider a recommendation on. <br />The selection process for the Playground Vendor and the Natural Resource Specialist is in the <br />final clarification stage with a recommendation expected to be made to the City Council in April. <br />Thanks to Commissioner Wall for being part of the Playground process and Commissioner <br />Doneen for being part of the Natural Resource process. Staff and Commissioners will plan to fill <br />you in further at the meeting. <br />
