Villa Park <br />Implementation Planning Session One <br />26 February 2013 <br />Meeting input <br />Following an overview of the Parks and Recreation Renewal Program and its application to <br />Villa Park, work session participants were asked to respond to questions about the evolution <br />of the park under the renewal program. Responses are included in this summary. <br />At the end of the session, participants were asked to prioritize ideas discussed during the <br />work session as individuals. <br />A list of work session participants is included at the end of this summary. <br />As a large group, participants were asked to share their thoughts about issues that needed <br />to be resolved at Lexington Park. Responses included: <br />Parking and traffic—multi-use will attract more people <br />Neighborhood access from upper areas <br />Waste of "hilly' area <br />Kids moving through private property to access the park <br />Preserve the wild character of the park <br />Access through B -Dale and Dale for bikes <br />Too many people riding bikes conflicting with walkers—safety concerns <br />Benches are well -used <br />Benches needed at play area to enhance it as a social place <br />Only a handful of people using the warming house; it's not open enough; lights on at night <br />for hockey <br />No place to put skates on if the building isn't open <br />Sediment at the B -Dale Club parking area <br />Vandalism has been minimal—so far <br />Signage at B -Dale doesn't emphasize the park <br />Dog issues <br />People don't know about B -Dale playground—it's public <br />Work session participants worked in small groups to compare and assess concept plans that <br />would orient the park to neighborhood or community use.
