The Commission will then make its
recommendation to the Roseville City Council for its consideration and appointment of a
Youth Commissioner for a term to expire at the end of August, 2013.
The Committee interviewed Roseville High School students Julia Laden, Sarah Thomas,
and Blaire Webster. Applicant Gabriel Clouser did not appear for his interview.
The Committee was impressed with all three applicants who interviewed, and had a
difficult time choosing one candidate. The Committee did conclude with a unanimous
recommendation that the Commission submit the name and application of Julia Laden, a
Roseville High School Senior, to the City Council for its consideration and appointment as
a Youth Commissioner on the Human Rights Commission.
The Interview Committee also felt that since Julia is a Senior who will probably not be in
Roseville next summer and recognizing that there is always a period of learning and
acclimatization with the Human Rights Commission, that Sarah Thomas, a Roseville High
School junior, should be appointed by the Commission to the Youth Commissioners
Committee as an informal alternate and full-fledged member of the Roseville Youth for
Human Rights, with the request that she participate in the activities of said committee and
Commission deliberations and events.
Recommendations to the Commission:
1. Recommend to the Roseville City Council the appointment of Julia Laden as a
Roseville Youth Commissioner on its Human Rights Commission; and
2. Appoint Sarah Thomas, a Roseville High School junior, to its Youth Commissioners'
Committee as a member in good standing of said committee and an informal
alternate to the Human Rights Commission.
Respectfully submitted,
Gary Grefenberg for the Youth Commissioner Interview Committee
